About Coach Yoed Agmon

COACH YOED AGMON.

I started teaching basketball while I was still in high school. I have coached basketball at different levels since 1988, and worked in fitness and athletic training for more than 30 years. My focus is specific: prepare athletes to move well, read what is happening and choose the right response.

The method I developed

COGNITIVE REACTION TRAINING

C.R.T. trains the full response: see the cue, understand what is happening, choose the right action and move. The next cue is not known in advance, so athletes have to read changing information instead of repeating a movement by rote. That is how perception, decision and movement come together in real time.

In this approach, agility is more than changing direction. It is recognizing what the play calls for and moving at the right moment.

TRAIN THE ATHLETE. TEACH THE GAME.

I am a senior fitness coach specializing in fitness for sport and athletic development. That work supports basketball performance: strength, movement quality, speed, coordination and the ability to change direction under control.

A clean move matters. But in a game, the player also has to notice the defender, the open space and the next option. That is why I work on technique and awareness together.

My work focuses on the space between seeing and doing. Players have to pick up the cue, make sense of it and choose the right action. Agility gives them the control to brake, shift and move at the right time.

These are the questions behind SmartBallers and C.R.T. (Cognitive Reaction Training), a method I developed to train athletes to perceive, interpret and respond with purpose. I share my principles so coaches can test them on the court, question them and build better practices.
